December 11–13, 2019
Instructor: Jiuan Jiuan Chen, associate professor of art conservation, SUNY Buffalo State College
In this workshop, JJ Chen addresses how imaging techniques used by conservators differ from consumer and commercial photography and how the consistency in imaging is critical. This workshop is comprised of lectures introducing different images techniques, demonstration, and hand-on practice to guide attendees step-by-step from setting up the objects and lighting to image capture and processing, as well as discussion on image data interpretation. Workshop participants will be better able to implement workflows that will be easy to repeat with high degree of consistency without sacrificing the safety of the artifacts.
