Artwork Description

Barry MacDonald used the exotic materials of rosewood and ebony to create this piece, and the title, Barrocco, suggests he was inspired by seventeenth- and eighteenth-century baroque art and architecture. The intricately carved lid and rounded shape suggest an ornately domed building, while the rich colors and swirls of rosewood recall the dramatic contrasts in baroque painting.
