Artwork Description

View of the Hotel Well, III is one of a group of images of the Hotel Romano Angeles in the little town of Acatlán, where he stayed when his car broke down on the way from Mexico City to Oaxaca. When he returned to Los Angeles, Hockney told his printer Ken Tyler about his experience, and Tyler encouraged him to return to the hotel and make images on Mylar, which were then transferred to a photosensitive plate back at Tyler’s workshop.
