Snow. Need I say more? The Smithsonian has been closed since Friday afternoon; schools are closed this entire week; and snow is piled a mile high (okay, not really, but my snow-shoveling back seems to think so). And there appears to be no vaccine in sight for an epidemic of cabin fever. Is this Washington or is this Buffalo?

Sequestered in my house, I needed my fix of art so I went to our Web site this morning. Looking for American art snow events I discovered this little gem by Robert Singletary. This is the view outside my own window: low visibility allowing only the hint of a landscape beyond.

It must sound romantic to those of you in more palatable climates. And it felt that way to me for awhile too, that is until I suddenly found myself standing by the front door with a snow shovel in hand.
